Info: HERE WE GO! I have requests for an INTERMEDIATE Oil/Cold Wax Workshop, so it is scheduled in JUNE 2026.
During this workshop, we will work together to discuss what it is that our paintings will convey and how that resonates with ourselves and viewers. This is a necessary step in your creative process that will inform your new work. There are times when a photo of a landscape I have taken calls to me to be painted. And I have to think of the WHY’S.
Also, a more spontaneous and less representative approach. Waiting and looking to discern where the paint is going. The paint and colors are all reflections of ourselves. We do not always need an exact path to follow, just an openness of what is an occurrence of thought that we can bring out and be open to. The abstraction that relies on our response.
My love of coldwax with oils is the textures I can achieve and the “history” of delving into the previous layers.
- This is a NEW Workshop and so much geared toward the discovery process, tips and more advanced techniques you can incorporate in your paintings.
- Students comment about the informative “before” and “after” discussions in class. Together, we talk about each of our paintings, discuss options on going forward and how our own style is important for our own voice.
Advanced Info: This medium works quite well for those artists who take a process-driven approach to their art. I am taking a Workshop in Ballinglen, Ireland in May and hope to share some of my take aways. But always, it is our own response to the process and how we develop it more fully that is most important.
Travel: For those of you who are traveling from out of state, you can also experience the historic, quaint small town of Northfield, MN. The gallery is located downtown on Main St. and within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the river.
