Circular bubbles connect the surface rigging to the black depths below. It’s descending slowly out of sight, the result of a cold splash on the surface. A physical sinking, yes, but also a sinking feeling in my stomach watching the wretched and dirty extraction. There is darkness here, but also light. Shedding light on what happens below the surface gives us the power to act.
